01. Shadow study before price
We map shadow through the day before quoting. In a city of towers, a terrace that is clear at 10 AM can be half-shaded by 2 PM — and a string laid out in ignorance of that loses generation for 25 years.
Why us
Anyone can bolt panels to a terrace. The difference shows in the shadow study, the structure specification, the DISCOM file and whether you can reach the installer in year seven.
The difference
Most rooftop solar disappointments in Mumbai trace back to the same handful of shortcuts. Here is where we refuse to take them.
We map shadow through the day before quoting. In a city of towers, a terrace that is clear at 10 AM can be half-shaded by 2 PM — and a string laid out in ignorance of that loses generation for 25 years.
Overselling capacity is the easiest way to inflate an invoice. We size against six months of consumption and your sanctioned load, then tell you if a smaller system is the better buy.
Non-listed hardware is the single most common reason PM Surya Ghar claims are rejected. We verify listings at the procurement stage, not after installation.
Hot-dip galvanised mounting and marine-grade fasteners. A powder-coated structure saves a few thousand rupees and starts rusting within a few monsoons this close to the sea.
Portal registration, feasibility, inspection, meter replacement, subsidy claim. You get status updates; you do not get a portal login and good luck.
We model at roughly 4.0–4.2 effective sun hours a day, the annual Mumbai average. Proposals built on 5.2 peak-season hours look better and disappoint by August.
Scaffolding, crane access, cable runs, earthing and DISCOM charges are in the quote. Surprises after work has started are a sales tactic, not an estimating error.
Cleaning schedules, inverter checks and generation reports under AMC. We would rather you call us in year seven than never hear from us again after commissioning.
Compare
Use this as a checklist with us and with anyone else you are considering. The questions matter more than the brand names on the quote.
| Question | What a weak answer sounds like | Shakthi Solar |
|---|---|---|
| Did you study shadow across the day? | “Your roof looks fine.” | Shadow study documented in the proposal |
| Are the panels and inverter ALMM / BIS listed? | “Top brand, don't worry.” | Listing verified and named in the quote |
| What generation estimate did you use? | A single number with no assumptions | Annual average with monsoon derating stated |
| Who files the subsidy? | “You apply, we install.” | We file and follow up to DBT credit |
| Is DISCOM liaison included? | Extra charge, quoted later | Included in the fixed price |
| What is the structure specification? | Unspecified “MS structure” | Hot-dip galvanised, wind-load rated, in writing |
| What happens in year three? | Silence | AMC with cleaning, checks and reports |
Solar warranties are frequently quoted loosely. These are the distinctions that actually matter when something fails in year nine.
Ask any installer which of these four they personally stand behind. Two are the manufacturer's problem; only the last one is theirs.
Send your last electricity bill and building address. You get a shadow-aware system size, a fixed price and a subsidy figure — not a phone estimate.
